Steampunks Invade St. Augustine!
2017-11-11 @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pm
Pack up your top hats and corsets, hop aboard your mighty airship, and come with us to invade the nation’s oldest city! On the weekend of November 11th and 12th, we will be embarking on a marvelous journey across our fine state.
In collaboration with the esteemed Cowford Steampunk Society of Jacksonville, we shall begin the day with a tour of the Lightner Museum, specifically to include the Dressing Downton exhibit. If you are a fan of Downton Abbey, this cannot be missed! It is described as “an exquisite exhibition of 36 costumes and accessories paired to perfection in engaging vignettes, immersed amongst Otto Lightner’s collection of turn of the century fine art and furniture.” Additional details can be found here: http://lightnermuseum.org/
If you do not wish to partake in the fun at the Lightner Museum, there will be plenty of other delightful experiences in which to engage! Come with us as we promenade along the historic streets of Old Town, perusing local proprietors’ shops for treasure. (Aunt Matilda’s Steampunk Trunk is not to be missed! 10% discount for Society members! https://auntmatildas.com/). As the daylight wanes, the real shenanigans shall begin. We shall visit a number of local pubs and imbibe to our hearts’ content (or at least until the bobbies kick us out).
Airship pooling will likely be possible, and plenty of inexpensive lodging should be available if you book in advance.
More details will be forthcoming as the event draws closer.
